taking blood pressurePractice Nurses

The Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistant can be seen by appointment. Priority for booking early morning appointments is given to  patients who work, are at school, or for blood tests that need to be taken before food or drink has been consumed that day.

Nurse Led Clinic

The Nurses are trained to deal with some conditions that require an appointment on that day. These include red eye, urine infections, sore throat, earache, strains and sprains and emergency contraception. The Nurses work within strict guidelines in dealing with these problems. If you should need to see a Doctor about the condition you will be fitted in without making a further appointment. Please ask to see a nurse for these conditions rather than making a Doctor's appointment.

The nurses carry out a programme of annual reviews for conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and respiratory diseases. From 2014 we will no longer be inviting patients by letter to book their annual review.  Please remember to contact the Practice in the month of your birth each year to book in for your annual review.  Reminder letters will be sent to those patients who do not book an appointment,

NHS Health Checks

The Practice Nursing Team are currently offering NHS Health Check appointments.     The NHS Health Check programme aims to help prevent heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease and certain types of dementia. Everyone between the ages of 40 and 74, who has not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions or have certain risk factors, will be invited (once every five years) to have a check to assess their risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and diabetes and will be given support and advice to help them reduce or manage that risk.

Ear Wax Treatment

Please note that due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19 we are not currently providing routine ear syringing.

The current guidance is for patients to place 2-3 drops of ordinary olive oil down the ear 2 or 3 times a day for 3 weeks (October 2018).

There are several providers of a private micro-suction service in Exeter. Prices range from £35 per ear:

  • Amplifon

If your symptoms are worsening, causing pain or unsteadiness or not improving after 3 weeks please contact us via phone or E-Consult, for further advice from a Doctor.
